Even as a young child, I have always wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. Though my career aspirations started at being a pediatric physician, I have come to the conclusion that a job as a pediatric physician assistant fulfills my calling. Both of these jobs have similar duties, however as a physician assistant I can still see my own patients, create treatment plans/prescribe medication and be well compensated. However it only requires a master’s degree rather than attending medical school. Sociology is the scientific and systematic study of social action and disorder and in my opinion, sociology is a very fascinating subject. As a pediatric physician assistant, knowledge of sociology can help me not only diagnose physical issues
The definition of Sociology can be defined in numerous ways there is not right or wrong answer with it, I have chosen the simplest explanation I can find which is “Sociology is the study of human social life, groups and societies. It is a dazzling and compelling enterprise, having as it’s a subject matter our own behaviour as social beings. The scope of sociology is extremely wide, ranging from analysis of passing encounters between individuals in the street up to investigation of world-wide social processes” (Giddens “ Sociology”, 1...
Children get injured or sick every day, and it doesn’t matter whether the child goes to a doctor or a pediatrician they are still tended to by a pediatric nurse. A pediatric nurse has to have many qualities. They also have to take many different classes. A pediatric nurse’s pay can vary from location to location depending on where they are working. Pediatric nurses must endure many different things to make it into this particular work field, and have many different qualities.
When I was seven years old my mother was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma. This began the long cycle of hospital stays and doctor visits. Seeing how the doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel took care of her inspired me to be like them. The hospital staff was friendly and attentive to every aspect of her care, if it were not for them my mom would not have been able to continue to watch me grow up. I owe every moment spent with my mom to the surgeons, nurses, and practitioners of Froedtert Hospital. The best way I can think of giving back to the field that gave me so much is by becoming a part of it.
Sociology is the study of the relationships that humans have with each other and social institutions. It aims to understand the links that exist between individuals and the social structures around them and also the functions that these social institutions perform in society.
Sociology is basically everywhere you go, most people don’t think about it, but it is in movies also. Sociology is the study of structure, development and how humans function in society. With sociology our society has been able to detect and study social interactions and changes in the society.
According to the American Sociological Association, “Sociology is the study of social life, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behavior. Sociologists investigate the structure of groups, organizations, and societies, and how people interact within these contexts... Sociologists understand social inequality, patterns of behavior, forces for social change and resistance, and how social systems work.” Sociology has opened my eyes to many things I never really paid much attention to. There were 7 units of the course and each touched upon the most important parts of it with the best articles from great sociologists.
Physician Assistant Studies is appealing to me because I would be able to treat and care for patients, and perform many of the same duties as a doctor. While many aspects of the career might be similar, I would be able to complete my degree more quickly and avoid very large student loans. I would also would have more flexible hours, due to not being on call. This appeals to me because of my hopes to also have a family. Another positive to becoming a physician assistant, versus an actual doctor is the opportunity to do more hands on work. With the way health care is changing, the doctors are leaning more towards the management side, instead of caring and communicating with the patients. This is appealing to me because I want to be involved as involved with the patients as I can. I am keeping my mind open to all of the possibilities within this field but I am definitely leaning towards Pediatrics. I love interacting with kids and have always thrived when working with them in the past. In fact, my family tells me that it is amazing how children are drawn to me; and how I put them at ease. This love for working with kids, made me realize I would love to work in Pediatrics, where I would be able to care for children everyday. Additionally, it has been predicted that this career will have a twenty-two percent increase by the year 2020, so I know that it is a growing field. This gives me confidence that I will be able to find a job after completing my
If I could go back in time, I would do many things differently. Then again, how many of us feel the same way? Now that I am a high school senior, I see the importance of an education. It’s up to me to push myself, not my mother or anyone else. I would have liked to come to this realization much sooner, I do not want to work two jobs and not have enough time to be with my family. I have seen how tough it can be. I know what career I would like to pursue. I would like to be a physician’s assistant. I would like to be the first person in my family to go to college. I would like my mother to be proud of me and my accomplishments.
Many people in this world want to make a difference in life. However, most people do not want to put in all the effort that it takes to do so. The job of a pediatrician is life-changing to many. Unfortunately, it takes drive and effort that many people do not have, to become a pediatrician. A pediatrician’s job is a highly-skilled and interesting job because he or she has the privilege to deal with and help as many children as possible.
Pediatricians specifically strive to improve the health of babies, children, teens, and even young adults; basically anybody within the ages of 0 to 21 years old. They care for their health and are in charge of making a diagnosis; treating various things such as infections, injuries, and any other dysfunctions. Becoming a Pediatrician is worth the years of schooling and long work hours because children’s health and lives will be impacted in a positive way and also due to unique patient encounters that will resonate within you. Sometimes money and stress simply cannot replace meaningful moments such as those that can be experienced while working as a pediatrician.
Sociologists develop theories to explain and analyze society at different levels and from different perspectives. Sociologists study everything from the micro level of analysis of small social patterns to the “big picture” which is the macro level of analysis of large social patterns.
The study of sociology exposes to individuals of the unique way of seeing the social world. Going more into depth with the aspect of sociology, we are able to see the relationships between individuals and the larger society in which we live in. There are many theories and concepts that can relate to many
I know that sociology is very important in today’s society. Sociology is very unique and pure. It helps form an apperance in people’s lives and communities. How do we figure out how certain things operate? Sociology does that trick. I am so proud of myself for taking different courses and learning so many different things to take on my future. Studying sociology has not only taught me so much, but has made me a better person inside and out. I
Sociology is the objective and systematic observation of human interaction. These interactions routinely take the form of ideas that are established by that society; these ideas disclose values held by that society and in turn explain how/why certain behaviors become customary.
