Every little kid has high expectations for what they want to be when they grow up. Some dream of becoming president of the United States of America, or becoming an Astronaut, a lot of little kid ’s say that they want to be a Doctor. What kids do not understand is that there are many types of doctors, like an orthopedic surgeon, who works with feet, or an oral surgeon, who works with the mouth. Another similarity to a doctor is a nurse practitioner.
My first experience with children was when I would babysit younger kids. Caring for them while they were sick brought a sense of joy nursing them back to health. After doing this for so long, I grew a passion for taking care of children as a profession. I want to help kids feel better and watch them grow into world-changing individuals, so that is why I chose Pediatric Nurse Practitioner as my career. I’ve always have wanted to go into the medical field, but didn’t know what I wanted to do in it. I decided I would like to to be a pediatric oncologist. A peditritian is a primary care physician who studies pediatrics which deals with the care of children. Pediatrics means healers of children ( In Greek pais=child and iatros= doctor/healer). The duty of a peditritian is to provide care to young people. Your responsibility as a peditritian is to examine, diagnosie and treat a child with a wide range of knowlege of different illnesses and injuries. Also you may have to prevent a child from disese such as hepititis B, ppolio, measels and the mumps. You have a routine check up with each of your patiens to monitor their growth and development from birth to adulthood. Lastly pediatritian are to provide the parent/guardian with teachings of how to protect and properly care for their child on a daily basis.

When people think of a pediatric nurse practitioner, they normally think of a person who performs examinations, takes blood samples, and measures vital signs of children who are sick. What they don’t see are the countless hours spent getting to know the patient, showing sympathy and understanding, and having to explain the diagnosis and treatment plans to the parents and sometimes to the child. According to my career cruising inventory, any job in the medical field would be right for me. Many years ago there was a small boy who was woken by a loud scream. Terrified, he ran from his room to find his mother unconscious on the floor. His little sister was screaming as he pulled his mom onto her back in desperation. In reality, he didn’t know what to do to save her and his helplessness was due to his lack of knowledge. She passed away that night. That boy was me. Our past defines us no matter how we protest; it can either pull you down into failure or lift you up towards success. From then on, I was drawn to medical sciences and used that helplessness to motivate my education.

Pediatric nurses must endure many different things to make it into this particular work field, and have many different qualities.
Many people in this world want to make a difference in life. However, most people do not want to put in all the effort that it takes to do so. The job of a pediatrician is life-changing to many. Unfortunately, it takes drive and effort that many people do not have, to become a pediatrician. A pediatrician’s job is a highly-skilled and interesting job because he or she has the privilege to deal with and help as many children as possible.
Another good aspect of this job is that they only focus on the health of children, rather than all of the age groups. An adult and a child are so different, they are nearly two different species. If a child is brought to a doctor who specializes in all age groups, the child would not be getting the same kind of attention that he or she would be getting, compared to that from a doctor who specializes only in children. Doctors that specialize in all age groups are used to make quick, rough, and fundamental actions needed for the healing of the patient. One does not simply treat a child the same way an adult would be treated.
In the future, I hope to pursue my career dream of becoming a pediatrician. Pediatricians can be identified individuals who specialize in giving medical care to children and adolescents between infancy to adulthood at eighteen years of age. I became inspired to become a pediatrician due to my immense love of children. Perhaps I have an innate intuition for taking care of people being that I have always felt that I excel at taking care of others. The idea of taking care of others truly makes me feel that I serve a purpose, not only to better the life of myself but the life of others. Therefore, I believe that becoming a pediatrician will help me combine the best of both worlds into a career that I adore and cherish.
