“This is my lab and what we do is study bones,” states Kari Bruwelheide in her video entitled “30,000 Skeletons”. Of the three resources that we were provided, “Puzzles of the Chesapeake” by Sally Walker, “Forensic Anthropology” by an unknown author, and “30,000 Skeletons” by Smithsonian Education presented by Kari Bruwelheide, the resource “30,000 Skeletons” is by far the best at explaining the role of an anthropologist. It is unbeatable because it is a video rather than just written words, and Kari Bruwelheide has personal experience in being a forensic anthropologist. With her personal experience, the audience can make connections or relate to what she is saying. Since she is talking directly to the listener, the audience can connect more personally, especially if she says something that is not related to the video, and more about real life. Also, since Kari Bruwelheide presents the video in a way that presents her personal experience, it is so much easier to understand. Because of this, the video is more interesting. Instead of talking about what an anthropologist is, she talks about what she does. Also, Kari Bruwelheide doesn’t just talk about facts over and over again, her presentation is not as monotonous and repetitive as the other resources. “Puzzles of the Chesapeake” and “Forensic Anthropology” are very boring, are not as easy to understand, do not show any personal experience, and you can not make connections as well. Overall, “30,000 Skeletons” by Kari Bruwelheide is obviously the best resource out of the three choices which include “Puzzles of the Chesapeake” by Sally Walker and “Forensic Anthropology” by an unknown author. The video medium is way better than the others because you can hear and see it, and a forensic anthropologist shares her personal experience about her job, life, and what she does, which is so much easier to understand and keeps the audience more
