I am going talk about the business that I enjoy shopping at first. There are actually several businesses that every time I am in town or near them I have to stop whether I need anything or not. One of those businesses is Atwood’s ranch and home store. The people that work at the store are very knowledgeable and are willing to help locate and provide their knowledge of the product or products that you as a customer are seeking to purchase. It is always a positive when you can go into a store and not feel that you will be judge from the employees if you have to ask a question about a product in regards to what it is, how it works, and if it’s what you need for the task that you are currently working on. You are able to go into Atwood’s with questions about something and leave there feeling that you really have a grasp on things. I grew up on a farm and this store was always useful in helping us on the farm and seemed to be a stop on a weekend trips to town. The employees that are willing to help are a huge part to being a successful and trusted business and that’s what Atwood’s provides. They also usually have everything and anything that I could need or want available. They have items that meet the needs of farmers, sportsman, athletes, supplying lawn and garden, tools and hardware, pet supplies, sporting goods, clothing of all kinds, and several seasonal categories in their merchandise assortment. I am a huge outdoorsman and I love messing around in the yard, gardening, mowing, anything that gets me outdoors so it is almost like this store is tailored specially for me. ...ve a hard time passing them by when I’m in town. Then there are several businesses that I can’t stand and will try to avoid at all cost. Atwood’s and U.S Cellular where just the first two businesses’s that I thought of when I started brainstorming for this assignment and which companies I wanted to talk about. There will always be businesses’ out there that drawn certain people towards them and then there will be other that push people away. I’m sure some people would disagree with my opinions of these two businesses but that is what makes America great. There are several places to choose from to receive the services that accommodate to your specific needs and wants. The bottom line is that all businesses should have the customer in mind at all times, some businesses do and some don’t. That is what creates the business that I like and the business that I hate.
Takem’s is an appliance store in the state of Virginia serving the residents of the Appalachian regions of Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Everyone loves to save money. In the tough economic times of today, every dollar counts. For some families, saving twenty dollars a week can mean the difference between having food on the table or not. Whether out of necessity or just the thrill of getting a good deal, American families have been relying on “big box” retailers for inexpensive products for decades. There really is nothing quite like going into one store and being able to buy clothes, groceries, auto supplies, pet supplies and items for the home. An entire day’s worth of shopping can be done in one place at a fraction of the time, at very competitive prices. These same stores also hire hundreds of employees from the community and are thought to benefit the city and county greatly with their tax dollars.
Compare your shopping experiences at retailers like Costco, Nordstrom, or Whole Foods with experiences you may have had at Walmart, Sears, or Kroger.
The first type is hostage, which is a customer who is stuck with a company even though they are dissatisfied. An example of this for me would be the water company that provides water to our house, WSSC. We have had many problems and slow service, but we are stuck with them because they have a monopoly over that service in our area. The second type is defectors, which means that you are not satisfied and you have the option to leave. An example of this in my household would be McDonalds because we don’t receive good service and there are other options that worth our hard earned money. The next type is mercenaries, which means you are only a little satisfied with the service and will leave if a better opportunity comes that is only slightly better than the one you are receiving. An example of this would be our service with Netflix because they do provide some good services but it is not excellent. If any of their other competitors were to offer the same service for a slightly better price then I would consider making the change. The last type is apostle, and this is the type of customer that all companies would like to encounter. These customers are very satisfied, very loyal, and very vocal about the great service they receive, which brings more loyal customers. The needs of consumers is an important economic feature in all competitive environments. What attributes (price, variety, quality, etc.) prompt buyers to choose one retailer over another is very important in the competitive landscape.

The company in my district which I feel is most customer-centric would have to be my local food retailer, SPAR. This purely means that they have used a proven, tactical sales method that enables them to predictably generate more revenue without increasing sales costs.
