ON BELIEFS
In order to avoid the simple Christian answers to the issues that are going to be discussed, I am going to be extremely candid. The insight that will provided will not be straight forward, but rather be a glimpse of the thoughts of someone who struggles find common ground with the beliefs that he holds. The two different beliefs are the virtue of capitalism and Christianity. Some believe that they are in direct opposition to each other, and I would completely disagree with that. However, the supposed conflicts take place in the realm of social issues. I look forward to exploring some of these issues. This is an area in which I have first hand experience. Among the people who come to the Hope Food Pantry that I volunteer at, many of them would fall under this category. I volunteer here because I think that it is stated very explicitly in the Bible that we are to care for the poor. I will be honest, the main reason that I am volunteering here to learn and observe. This is the group of people that I want to continually help going forward in my life.
Many people believe that capitalism is the reason that these people cannot afford their own food. Yet, I still have yet to see people trying to flee a capitalistic society to try to center a socialist one. This is because capitalism actually breeds kindness. I have noticed that many of these people do not come all the time which suggests that some only come when they absolutely need it. However, I have also noticed that although the pantry provides food and prayer, which are very powerful, they do not look forward to try to get these people out of …show more content…

I do not believe that is love, that is selfish “love”. It says “look at me and how good of a Christian I am.” True love involves justice. When people screw up, they have to face some of the repercussions. Afterward, our arms are wide open showing God’s love. Capitalism is not greed. Rather, it gives people the opportunity to experience their full potential. (Eph 1:18 & Prov. 31:9) This is biblical and how I seek to serve God through Christian
