Because of the time this play was written, people would have strongly believed in bad luck and fate, but the characters were equally to blame. It was just a question of which one is to blame the most for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. First of all, Romeo could be most to blame for the deaths of himself and Juliet, he asked Juliet to marry him when he hardly knew her. Romeo declared his love for her and went to friar Lawrence and asked the friar if he would marry them, Romeo says "Then plainly know my hearts dear love is set, on the fair daughter of rich Capulet, by holy marriage, when, where and how, we met, we woo'd and make exchange of vow. " If Romeo had restrained himself from killing Tybalt, or waited a day before killing himself after hearing about Juliet's death, it might have ended happily, and if Romeo didn't have such deep feelings, his love with Juliet wouldn't have existed in the first place.
There is a lot of blame to go around in the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare but in the end, Friar Laurence is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death. He agrees to marry them, which Romeo took as an act of approval for his and Juliet’s relationship. He also mapped out risky plans that he could have taken more caution when executing. Lastly, he was too wrapped up in the fact that their relationship could bring the Montagues and the Capulets together after too many years of conflict to see that the relationship would bring many dangers and that he should have at least attempted to slow it down.

Then he said to his wife that, “O’ Thursday, tell her, she shall be married to this noble earl.” This led to Juliet drinking the potion to pretend dead on the day of her marriage and Romeo’s servant Balthasar got the message of Juliet’s death before he got a letter from Friar Lawrence about her pretend death. In the play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo plays the role of the tragic hero. In the play Romeo is an extremely impulsive individual. and makes his decisions without considering the consequences. Romeo makes terrible decisions that end up killing him. What Romeo Failed to see is that every decision he made had an even worse reaction.
The choices Romeo and Juliet make are poor, and eventually resulted in their death. Getting married, killing Tybalt, and thinking with hastyness were all poor choices that lead to both of their deaths. Once in a while making bad choices doesn’t affect someone as much, but making then many times regularly does affect one’s life. This teaches people that we must think our actions through before committing them.
In the end, Romeo is responsible for five deaths, Mercutio, Tybalt, Paris, Juliet and himself. Juliet kills herself because she is under different circumstances and does what she feels is the only option left. Juliet is courageous and strong in seeking advice and not being overly sensitive. In the case of Tybalt's death, Romeo's desire for revenge clouds his judgment and he acts without considering the potential consequences. Similarly, his decision to take his own life after hearing of Juliet's supposed death is a rash and impulsive choice that ultimately leads to tragedy. If Romeo had taken the time to think things through and seek advice from others, he may have been able to avoid these tragic outcomes.
Romeo decided, at the spur of the moment, that his only solution to deal with Juliet’s death was to kill himself. Romeo’s impulsiveness caused his preventable death, but he is not the only one who was impulsive and hasty in the play.

Romeo’s decision to kill Tybalt is an example of Romeo’s irrationalism because the fight could have been avoided. Furthermore, this fight banished Romeo from Verona which resulted in many more situations which all led to the death of Romeo and Juliet. This terrible decision killed Romeo himself, and once Juliet woke up, she was also quick to stab herself, causing her to quickly die.
