Christianity defines a saint as “those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ Lord and ours (Corinthians 1:2)."Mother Teresa was a patron who served the Catholic Church by taking care of the poor and needy. Although she has not been fully confirmed as a saint, many acknowledge her as one, and one of the greatest.
Mother Teresa of Calcutta was born on August 26, 1910 in, Üsküp, Kosovo Vilayet (now known as Skopje, Republic of Macedonia), under the name Agness Gonxha Bojaxhiu. She lived her childhood impoverished, especially after the death of her father when she was only eight years old. Her mother was left to raise Teresa and her sisters in a life of poverty. She helped countless lives, not caring for any benefits being given to her. She dedicated her entire life to serving everyone beside herself. Mother Teresa is one of history’s, if not, most selfless person. When she passed, the world lost a truly great human being. Millions of grieved, whether they were Catholic, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic, etc. Nevertheless, her death did not stop the ongoing effects of her benevolence.
Her contribution to society can be compared to no other. She ran homes and missionaries for the poor and unwanted, whose needs were practically ignored by the local government. She opened her arms to the unloved and embraced them with her pure compassion.
Many classify a good Christian as one who attends church every Sunday, prays every night, follows all of God’s commands, etc. The truth is, the faith of Christianity is more than just folding your hands together and whispering your thoughts out loud.
