The Slaughter of Innocence

46 million abortions are performed every year. In other words, 46 million lives are being

killed before having been given a chance to live. Abortions should be made illegal throughout

the world. This procedure should not be allowed because it destroys life, has consequential

physical and mental problems on the women involved, and because other preferable options

exist.

Life begins at conception, when the male’s sperm fertilizes the female’s egg. When a

woman first becomes pregnant, the pregnancy test will not show “positive” right away. By the

time that it does declare her to be pregnant, the DNA of the fetus is already set for the child’s

future. Its gender, natural talents, hair and eye colours are already determined. The fetus is no

different than we are after birth, except for its right to live. Is there really a difference between

abortion and murder? If a doctor killed a child one minute after it was born, it would be murder;

but if a doctor killed a child one minute before the child was born, it would be the “mother’s

choice!” The fetus can feel pain as early as the sixth week of pregnancy. There are stories that

say how some aborted babies scream when they come out of the womb! It is essential that the

government makes these excruciating life-taking procedures illegal.

Having an abortion can cause large amounts of physical and mental problems on the

woman. Physically, having an abortion may damage a woman’s reproductive organs which will

prohibit her from having children in the future. That’s ironic, isn’t it? Not only can it prevent her

from having children, but it can also cause disturbances in her menstrual cycle. It can damage the
