Reader Response to Chapter One of The God of Small Things

- The approach employed in the present article is binarism. Theoretically, in my opinion, binarism seems to operate at cognitive level. Coming to literature, I discuss the binary terms of (historical) fact and fiction. Here, I have tried to apply the binary approach and have tried to analyze the binary value orientation in Arundhati Roy’s novel ‘The God of Small Things....   [tags: The God of Small Things]

- Economic benefits small businesses can give as alternatives to raises It seems that now a days all people want to get from their jobs is money, and as much as possible. When they approach there boss or manager and say they have been working hard and have dedicated a lot of time to their business, they are expecting a raise. But small businesses today are struggling with being able to hand out raises and cash bonuses because they don’t have the same cash flow as major multi-billion dollar businesses do that are in their same market, and both management and employees are aware of it....   [tags: Business, Small business, Employment]

Small Town with One Road, by Gary Soto

- A. Title: The title of this poem suggests that it is about a small country town with one road, most likely in the middle of nowhere. Very few people and very few things around for a person to do with their free time. B. Paraphrase: We could be here. This is the valley and its highway which rabbits can't get across but kids can. They jump to the store with sweetness on their tongues. They watch for fun. Dimes fall from their palms to pay for the candies they eat on the way home. There are lots of dogs and cats and chickens at the house....   [tags: Small Town with One Road]

Arundhati Roy’s The God of Small Things

- Some believe that boundaries are made to be broken, that lines are meant to be crossed while others believe that we should “ not move an ancient boundary stone set up by [our] forefathers” (Proverbs 22:28). Everywhere we look, we come across a moral boundary that we at least think we should not cross, but cross nonetheless. “As ye sow, ye shall reap” is a familiar proverb we have all heard at one point in our lives (Roy 31). But is it true. Do we really get what we deserve. And if so, who then decides what is right and wrong....   [tags: The God of Small Things]

- What is good without evil. Without evil, there would be no possible way for good to exist. They complement each other, without one, you cannot have the other. Good and Evil in Dracula by Bram Stoker

- What if in between good and evil did not exist. Where would you stand. Today, it is believed that everyone was born with the slightest bit of evil in them. In the Victorian Era, this theory would be considered very wrong, because one would either be all good, or all evil. In Dracula, by Bram Stoker, good versus evil was symbolised throughout the book as two antithetical forces without an in between. By clearly demonstrating the relationship between the dualistic ideas of intuition versus logic, good characters facing figures comparable to the devil, and symbolism within the natural world, Bram Stoker effectively recounts a “holy war” between the antagonistic forces of good and evil....   [tags: evil, good, world, natural]

Goal Setting Is Powerful Way Of Keeping Sales Psychology On The Up And Up

- Goal setting is powerful way of keeping sales psychology on the up-and-up. We all know that goals dictate future performance by giving team members a sense of purpose and direction. I can think of nothing less motivating than not knowing why I’ve been asked to do something. Instill in your team members what the end objective is and explain to them the necessary steps to get there. It is much easier to put forth the effort when we can answer who, what, where, when, why and how.
