Abortion is considered to be one of the most highly debated topics of all time. As defined by the National Library of Medicine abortion means “An abortion is a procedure to end a pregnancy. It uses medicine or surgery to remove the embryo or fetus and placenta from the uterus. The procedure is done by a licensed health care professional.” (Abortion: Medline, 2014) Plus many consider the death of a fetus to be murder that is why many do not support abortion. Those who do not support abortion are called pro-life. Ultimately, pro-life advocates stand for the proposition that every human life is important and equal in value and self-worth, whether it be a fetus or fully grown human being. Controversially, those who support abortion are considered to be pro-choice. Wade. Roe was a single, pregnant woman, whose pregnancy was a result of rape, wish to terminate her pregnancy, which was not legal in the state of Texas. Roe won the case on the grounds that her right to privacy, the clause of the fourteen amendment, was being violated and in the end abortion was legalized. Even though countless abortion have been performed since then many still and the debate whether it should be legalized is still strongly argued. Pro-life advocates believe that, if a woman has an abortion, she is killing an innocent life which is an act of murder. (Hamilton, 2004) No matter what stage of pregnancy the child is in it should still be considered a human being. When a woman receives an abortion she is ending the life of a child that could make potential contributions to society and is taking away their child’s right to life.
