Recommended: Why you should recycle
Through the years, I have heard it pressed in our brains about “saving the planet”. By helping restore and preserve our environment is the only way to do that. The preservation and restoration of our environment should be something that unites Christians and non-Christians, black and white, and young and old. Christians, specifically, must take a stand and take action to preserve and restore our environment by recycling and forming groups to do things to help our environment. This doesn’t just help our environment, it makes Christians united with each other. Christians have been put in charge to take care of the earth from the beginning of time. When God told Adam and Eve takes care of all of the earth, including the plants, animals, themselves, …show more content…
Some benefits of recycling: getting a financial income, conserving our limited resources, energy is more efficient, builds community, creates more jobs, builds strong economy, and earth-friendly. By recycling you can get a financial income by turning in some of the recyclables for cash. I know, for example, in my household, we collect all our aluminum cans, when we collect a few garbage bags full of them. We take them to the recycling center, they give us some much money per can that we collected. By recycling, we also conserve our limited resources by collecting paper, plastic, and other recyclables. There are less of our resources being consumed. For instance, if we collect paper. Then, turn in the paper to the recycling center. New paper can be made from the recycled paper, saving more trees from being cut down. (What is recycling 7 reasons why we should 2008) Recycling is also energy efficient. “It costs more energy to manufacture a brand new aluminum can than it does to recycle 20 aluminum cans. 20 cans can be made from recycled material using the same energy it takes to make one new can.” (What is recycling 7 reasons why we should 2008) Recycling builds community by making people work together to save their environment, making the world a better place to live in. Recycling also creates jobs. There are 36 jobs created in a recycling company, when there is only 6 jobs created in a landfill job. (What is recycling 7 reasons why we should 2008). Recycling builds a strong economy because it takes less money to make items from the reused items than it does from the new items. Lastly, Recycling is earth- friendly because recycling does not make harmful chemicals in the ground, like landfills do by burring the garbage up creating methane gas that could get into our water supply, contaminating it. (What is recycling 7 reasons why we should 2008) An interesting fact from “What is recycling
...that they believe is just and being ethical when concerning the environment, adherents will be rewarded by God. Humanity also benefits as, environmental ethics provided by the Christian teaching and beliefs allows communities to come together and discuss issues concerning the environment whilst being guided by their faith.
“The environment is God's gift to everyone, and in our use of it we have a responsibility towards the poor, towards future generations and towards humanity as a whole,” (C.V. 48). Whether it is one man or an entire nation that suffers from poverty, humans have the moral obligation to help those in need to make ourselves better. “The Church's social doctrine has always maintained that justice must be applied to every phase of economic activity, because this is always concerned with man and his needs,” (C.V. 37).
I am not a big earth first person but I do believe in recycling because I work at a local recycling center and I think recycling is a good thing. In fact I think everyone should recycle to make the earth a better place as a whole. A few good reasons why recycling is a good this is, the more people recycle, the less room is filled in landfills. Also, when people recycle they are reusing materials, therefore saving resources. Another good reason is that when you recycle often times you get paid back the C.R.V. that you already paid for in the grocery store.
“The Historical Roots of Our Ecological crisis” has been the spark of a long standing debate about the impact of religion on environmental degradation. Comparing White and Whitney’s respective essay’s brings together two different perspectives ultimately shaping ones opinion on this subject of matter. Conclusively I can say Whitney’s points are valid and interesting as they identify the crucial flaws that White fails to take into account. Unlike most response papers, Whitney’s agreements with White are superficial in the broadest sense. The points that contend White’s thesis are all points that I agree as they pertain to the generation that I live in and I can see where her ideas stem from in day to day life.
Many people believe that we should not recycle anymore, but this is not the case. We, the people of the world, need to continue to recycle because we do not want our children to grow up in a world where there are no certain species of animals due to recycling failures. We also do not want our children to grow up thinking that it is okay that they throw their garbage on the ground, and not have to pick it up. We need to teach our children that they need to take care of the earth that they are living on, because they only get one. Recycling is one of the most beneficial environmental issues that we have here on this earth. Recycling saves energy, limits pollution and supports several environmental factors of the economy. “In 2003, the savings from recycling 54 billion aluminum cans exceeded the energy equivalent of 15 million barrels of crude oil- or the amount of gas the U.S. uses in one day,” according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA estimates that 200 million gallons of used oil are not disposed of properly, and if we were to dispose the oil properly then we could keep the oil from polluting the ground and the fresh water source. According to E. Takatori, “… While on-going societal regulation treats material recycling as the dominant cycle, the properties of recycled plastic remain the most port
Lots of recycled products are less expensive than brand new ones. Buying cans, bottles, paper, and some clothing items made from recycled goods are all potential ways to save you money. People can use their recycled items. People can use their recycled paper to make pencil which saves money. When people make paper it cost $25,000 dollars a month. If people use recycled paper, then it won't even cost about $100. The benefit in cost per can in terms of savings is so low that it's quite insignificant. On another level, the savings in terms of energy required in making a new can from scratch as compared to making it from an existing can is tremendous. The cost of aluminum would be high if people did not recycle it. Metals like copper, iron, and steel can also be recycled. Scrap bits of metal can be brought to a scrap dealer who will pay cash for the metal. Automobile manufacturers get good money for scrap metal too. Some people think that recycling is a great way to save
Human beings capable of changing the climate and the environment in a destructive way are also capable of building it up. They should remember this Native American proverb “ We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children”, and maintain the environment for future generation. It is still not too late to save the planet by taking necessary action.
Stewardship extends far beyond knowing how to spend your money wisely and how one can best care for the earth. Being a Christian steward, and thus having stewardship, allows Christians and those alike to make life choices that advance His kingdom and live into what He has entrusted His followers to. Economics is one of the first things people start to study in order to fix this fiscally and environmentally broken world. George Monsma asserts that stewardship is the foundation of economic life, and it is because of this, people need to use their resources not only for the benefit of themselves, but those in need.
One of my boys loves to save our cans and plastic bottles so he can take them to the recycle center. While we have a recycling container for them, we don’t get the money if we let the garbage company haul them away. Chris does a great job at separating cans and bottle for us. “Job growth is directly related to the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act of 1989. More than 2,600 recycling jobs have been created since then, an increase of 42 percent” (Shore; Ewadinger 36). Recycling saves money on a much larger level than I ever thought. When you recycle paper for instance the process takes much less time, money, and natural resources to make it. You don’t have ...
One reason is that recycling can help save the earth from waste and trash build-up. For example, fifty percent of roofing and construction on houses is made from recycled aluminum cans. Using recycled materials to produce new products costs less money and less energy than new materials. It can also save valuable landfill space. People have trash everyday. Pretty much anything is recyclable. If you throw them away, it?s a waste of natural resources, a waste of energy, and a waste of money. Instead people should take the time collect these things and put some effort into helping in the world we live in.
There are many people in the United States today that are unemployed due to our economy. Therefore, recycling could create jobs for those people. Recycling is a complex process that needs multiple workers. First, the plastics and other recyclable items have to be collected. Next, the plastics have to be separated into categories. This might seem simple but it is a three step process. The first separation is made directly by the codes on the plastic. The second separation makes smaller categories of like plastic materials. The third separation is made by determining certain properties of the plastics that are comparable. The categories are then shredded, sanitized, and then melted down. Finally, the factories then mold the plastic into direct items or palletize them for use in the future (Manrich, 9). The recycling companies could make their money by making deals with major corporations. For example, they could collaborate with Pepsi by creating their plastic soda bottles. The recycling companies would be able to sell and create these bottles for cheap since they do not have to pay for the materials to make them. Also, they use less oil than a plastic production factory would use. Thus, it is a cheaper way to create new plastic items. Therefore, there are endless possibilities that allow the recycling business to
Therefore, many countries in the developed world have adopted recycling policies for disposal Of waste. The benefits of the recycling process include the following. Maintaining the cleanliness of the environment in the first place from the damage of burying and burning the waste or leaving it exposed Reduce the pollution of sea, ocean and river waters from dumping solid waste, threaten marine life, and reduce groundwater pollution from the waste of
On the whole, I think that it is our moral obligation to protect the environment and its inhabitants. We must all contribute in protecting the nature. No matter how small or insignificant our actions may seem, they matter. It only takes 1 person to start a movement that could possibly lead to a major environmental breakthrough. Are you going to be that person?
Therefore, recycling can protect natural resources, preserve energy and lessen pollution. If people want to save planet Earth for generations to come, then recycling is necessary. On Debate.org, the question “Should there be mandatory recycling?” was asked and 84 percent said yes, while only 16 percent said no (“Should There Be Mandatory Recycling”). Recycling is very important to the planet and can make a huge difference in so many ways. Recycling is a way of life and once a person has made the choice to follow through with the steps, recycling can become second nature. Every small contribution adds up to how the society shapes the Earth’s future. How will someone make a difference?
This process saves energy, and conserves resources by reducing the amount of renewable resources that would normally end up in a landfill or in an incinerator. These recycling plants “increase jobs in manufacturing while simultaneously increasing the Unite State’s competitiveness in industry. ”(Recycling | Reduce, Reuse, Recycle | US EPA.) There are also several long term benefits of recycling. For example, “collecting and processing secondary materials, manufacturing recy... ...
