For the most part, everyone likes to hang onto his or her happier thoughts. People grasp onto the moments in which a smile adores their face or a laugh escapes without permission. Innocent memories filled with wonderful ignorance. As people grow older, the memories no longer hold onto such innocence. They experience a journey in which they grow and learn, see and feel as does Hector in his search for happiness. In the film “Hector and the search for happiness,” the main character, Hector embarks on a journey. In his journey, Hector learns that happiness is feeling completely alive, listening is loving and happiness is being loved for who you are.

Hector poor listening skills revile themselves at the beginning of the film. Instead of paying as much attention as he should to his patients, Hector draws on his notepad. As the film progresses and comes to a close hector no longer lacks the ability to listen. He now laughs and interacts more and more with his patients. He listens and loves his career a lot more. During his journey, Hector constantly asks, “What makes you happy?” Hector asks this to almost everyone he encounters. Edward, a cranky businessperson becomes the first one who he asks this of at the beginning of his journey. To this, Edward responds with the idea that money means happiness. Hector takes note of what Edward says writing down in his notebook, “A lot of people think being happy is being richer or more important.” Later on in the film, Hector travels to Los Angeles in first class. On this plane, he attends to Kamila, a woman with a brain tumor. Although dying and in pain, Kamila tells Hector her story. She explains how luck of a woman she is due to the love that surrounds her. Hector listens to her and aids in making the plane ride he last and best. Kamila tells hector, “Listening is loving,” which he also writes
