We lost Tim a week ago during an engagement with some remnants of the confederates in the area, and I hear we lost Jack to the infection this morning, God rest that bastard’s soul. When we finally find the rest of the feddie skirmishers they’ve got a lot of payback waiting for them. Anyway, like I said, it’s been a while, I’ve just been thinking on some things. After Atlanta, Sherman ordered us to march east, to the port of Savannah, and Father forgive me, we done terrible things to the people here. Last night the sarge woke me up, said we were starting the usual routine again. I’ve grown to dread those words immensely since the first time, since we’ve left Atlanta; the General’s been burning towns, uprooting roads, and pillaging everything in his way. Why, I even heard a few of the towns we were in had agreements from the general himself. God’s bones, none of this sits right with me, nor with anyone in this unit.
