Prior to taking this course I have always appreciated what I was taught about the importance of moral integrity within the Christian framework. I valued everything I have previously learned in my religion classes and till this day enjoy learning new things about my faith. However, I was also always aware that at least for me, something significant was missing. People have always struggled with spirituality. People in the 21st century are so consumed with work, technology, and their social lives; they completely forget about the most important thing their faith. This course in particular has launched me on a spiritual quest throughout this semester that allowed me to disconnect from the outside world and strongly reconsider my spirituality. Along the way I was able to discover important things about my spirituality. First and foremost I realized that spirituality is not something that is optional. It is not something that we can be one day and not be the next day. We have to learn how to handle the “fire” and “powerful energies” that flow through us. I think that one of the fires that fuels my spirituality is gratitude. I want to continue keeping my soul mellow and grateful by making sure that I believe and do the right things. I want to be able to be a healthy human being and a healthy Christian.
