Now in 2015, the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has grown. Organizations have been able to see what an impact CSR has on the overall function and longevity of one’s organization. A concept that has not always had extreme detail, now is a significant part of the day to day social consideration in any successful business; this is also a term that has a multitude of definitions, though the premise behind the concept is relatively the same. CSR is a result of World War 2, there became a strong need for more social consciousness, this lead to a global stance. Managers of today face the challenges of responding and identifying social issues and utilizing both novel policies and practices; these policies are utilized locally and internationally. These are key components of social issues that are present in the U.S. and abroad. With Social Responsibilities being of considerable concern, it was also necessary to form certain entities encompassed under the umbrella of CSR to insure that all areas of social responsibility are being met. These entities include: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA). These are called social regulations, due to their purpose; addressing and formalizing some responsibilities of business in regards to the social movement (Carroll, 2015). CSR has been linked to risk due to environmental and social issues regarding handling things in an ethical manner. CSR has become a significant part of the construct of any successful business, there are a multitude of facets that are necessary and have a true significance. One must acknowledge the importance of social responsibility. To overlook the significance of CSR would be jeopardizing the functionality of a business, it would also deteriorate the stability of trust in an organization not simply just between customer and business; there too could be a breakdown in this important relationship between stockholders and other significant entities within an organization.
