In the United States, many would believe that health care is a right. These citizens believe that everyone should have access to health care and that everyone should have an equal opportunity to get the care they need for themselves and their family. Within many documents that our country is shaped around there is statements to support that health care should be a right for everyone.
Many people would go back to the Declaration of Independence to say that they have the right to health care. In the Declaration of Independence it states that all men have inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (http://www.archives.gov. ) The inalienable right to life gives people the right to health care. It gives people the right to health care because citizens in the United States have the right to seek medical attention when they are in need of medical help. People who are in need or want immunizations to protect the body from an infection or disease have the right to go to the medical provider in their local area and seek medical attention. The inalienable right to the pursuit of happiness gives people the right to health care. It gives people the right to health care because people in the United States have the right to live a fulfilling life. People that are in need of medical attention to better their lives have the right to go to the doctor or seek a medical provider. By getting the medical attention they need they can live a life that is full of happiness. Many people seek help from psychiatrists, physical therapists, and chiropractors in order to get help building confidence and increase their happiness.

Many people believe that they should not have to have the same health benefits as a citizens who don’t have a job. In 2012 the World Health Origination reported that 47 million citizens in the United States are uninsured and some of them have opted out of their employers insurance and have not obtained insurance elsewhere (http://www.who.int/bulle). The people that have opted out of insurance have made the choice to not be covered medically. The people that believe that health care is a privilege believe that people should have the choice to not be covered and that they should not have to pay tax payers money to include these people opting out to be covered. These citizens believe that they should not have to pay tax for people that are not working to be covered under insurance
