The reasons that I gotten into the field of public administration was the community needs and its’ lifeblood. Plus, the thirst and continuous desire to improve the overall policies for ideal of a good government. Ever since I gotten into the graduate school for Master of Public Administration. I had my eyes wide opened to the world and all of its’ opportunities. I felt and recognized that the opportunity of this fellowship will help me with my career-development into full-time with local government. My career goal is to be a City Manager at one day. I wanted to make a difference because I know the hardship and I am ready to face more of it. To make difference require everything I got to give. For example, you will find that I used to work as intern for several departments within the San Diego region. My first involvement was the City of San Diego’s Human Relations Commission was focus on legal issues related with human rights. Those issues are often being murky and underlying the major issues in the city. My job was to navigate around them and find out what’s work and what’s not. I felt that I wanted to know what the city’s struggle and how to mitigate them. Then at one semester I decided to take an Emergency Management class and it was really interested class. Especially how the organization structure working in frequent temporary inter-organization management in the event of disaster. So, I went on my second internship with County of San Diego’s Office of Emergency Services. From there, I learned a big deal about the structure of their. I even did participate their mock-training in event of emergency regard to Ebola spread as if it was “disaster level”. Later on, I was working on research for the upcoming grant related with FirstNet from the Federal. I believe that ideal is what I should do for my future. Once again I mentioned that I decided my career goal should be a future City Manager. Not just because I am playing the SimCity game that compelled me to be one. I felt that, as City Manager is a huge responsibility and direct contact person to the Mayor or/and the City Council. I believe each city have their own issues, struggles, concerns, and more that made each the city have their distinctions. So therefore, those challenges are here to be solve by teamwork, innovative, and leadership. That is what the Mayor, City Manager, and City Council is all about and I believe I could be part of solution-driven. Again it isn’t only for the city but county with their leadership and potentials too. I think we are in middle of huge social changes. The workforce and economy is different now than before and Internet of things is keeping coming. Green revolution/evolution are popping everywhere now with demands of green environment-friendliness. Also, there are more and more diversifies population existed in those communities with their cultures and ideas.
