Vision of Evil in Richard III and Macbeth
Shakesperae’s play Macbeth is in some respects a relatively simple play. Like Richard III its’ structure follows a standard conventional form: the rise and fall of a great man. The first part of the play follows Macbeth's rise to power. By 3.1 he has assumed the kingship. The rest of the play follows the disintegration of all he has achieved, a process that culminates with his death and the installment of new king. In that sense, there is very little difference in the structure between Richard III and Macbeth.
But, of course, they are vastly different plays. The key difference is the psychological portrait of the hero. In Richard III there is an amalgam of different theatrical depictions of evil and that the predominant one was the Vice-Machiavel, the Devil incarnate, who is presented in such a way that we are not encouraged to probe very much into his motivation, his psychological response to events as they unfold, and his disintegration. We do have some clear hints at a possible psychological source for Richard's conduct (the opening soliloquy points to his deformity and his inability to love), but I suggested that these are more symbols of his evil than their cause. This approach to Richard's character allows us to develop in more detail an appreciation for how much the effects of this play depend upon Richard's theatricality, on his outward behaviour (which he invites us to admire in a shared understanding of how clever he is in comparison with everyone else), rather than on any inward complexity.

...ll always be such people, often among the best and the brightest – politicians, business and community leaders, entertainers and sports figures. So overcoming one particular person is no final triumph of anything. It is a reminder of just how fragile the basic moral assumptions we make about ourselves can be. In that sense, Macbeth, like all great tragedies, is potentially a very emotionally disturbing play. It does not reassure us that the forces of good will always prevail, rather that the powers of darkness are always present, for all our pious hopes and beliefs.

My own personal philosophy of leisure has been shaped by past and present activities I do for leisure and why I do them. Bulger spent his first serious time in prison when he had to spend time in Atlanta Penitentiary. He was sentenced for armed robbery and hijacking. Kevin Weeks, a mobster who was associated with Bulger said that Whitey was involved with Sidney Gottlieb and Project MK-ULTRA. Project MK-ULTRA was a government research experiment that researched the “behavioral engineering of humans.” Bulger and eighteen others had volunteered in order to get shorter sentences. The volunteer work they were doing was taking LSD and other drugs to help find a cure for schizophrenia for eighteen months. After that, in 1959, Bulger was sent to Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary. It was at Alcatraz where he became good friends with Clarence Carnes. He was sent to Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary three years later and the next year he was sent to Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary. He was finally released in 1965 after being in prison for a total of nine years.

Macbeth, a play written by William Shakespeare, portrays Macbeth as a kinsman, subject and trusted friend to King Duncan I of Scotland. A trusted friend, that is, until Macbeth has a chance encounter with the “three witches” (Shakespeare) or the “Weird Sisters”. The witches predict that Macbeth will become the next King and that his fellow companion, Banquo, will be the father of a line of kings. A change comes over Macbeth after his meeting; he is no longer content to be a follower of the King, he will “be” King at any cost. After killing the King and his friend Banquo, losing his wife to madness and ordering the execution of many, Macbeth is killed in much the same fashion as he has killed. But does this really reflect the real King MacBeth of Scotland? While examining the characteristics and actions of the two Macbeths and decide if Shakespeare’s writing was historically sound or was it just “double, double, toil and trouble” (4.1.22-26) playing with MacBeth’s character.

Although he keeps some aspects of the play similar to the actual history, Shakespeare’s play varies in terms of characters, events, and settings.
Macbeth a play written by William Shakespeare in the 17th century shows the unexpected happens when it is least expected. In the beginning of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is stronger and more ruthless then her husband Macbeth because her only interested in gaining power. She plans and executes a death with little remorse. In the beginning of the play Lady Macbeth is much more ruthless but throughout the play this changes and Macbeth becomes even more ruthless then Lady Macbeth.
Throughout the course of the novel Lolita, readers have regarded Humbert Humbert’s heinous actions towards Lolita with condemnation and loathing disgust. However, even as he is notoriously known for his sickening crimes, at one point readers will unknowingly come to the realization they have started to empathize with Humbert’s actions. Lionel Trilling once asserted that, “We find ourselves the more shocked when we realize that, in the course of reading the novel, we have come virtually to condone the violation it presents – we have been seduced into conniving in the violation, because we have permitted our fantasies to accept what we know to be revolting.” As we accepted Humbert Humbert’s repulsive actions with leniency we have permitted his actions and we have taken his side which bounds us to condoning his immoral crimes.

Shakespeare’s piece, as an immeasurable ravine, would always be inaccessible for me to read due to the ancient English and the ancient background under which all the story had token place. I remember the first time of reading Macbeth was when I was in 8 grades. I was too young to appreciate the tragical theme; thus, my first impression of Macbeth was barely left, except knowing its short length. When I was watching the actual Shakespeare playing on the stage, my memory of my earlier reading suddenly was retrieved. However, in the end, Macbeth still left lots of questions for me to concern.
