Leah was walking to the bus stop one day and she felt really sick but she didn’t want to stay home from school because all her friends were there so she was going to wait until she got home to see if she felt any better. When she got home she actually felt a little worse than she did that morning so her mom took her to the hospital. When she got to the hospital the doctors didn’t think there was anything wrong with her she just didn’t feel good until they did some test to see if there actually was anything wrong with her. When the tests came back they found out that she had the Zika virus. The Zika virus is an illness that leads to serious birth defects and can also cause death (Racaniello).

Finally after the tests came back it turns out that she does have Zika so they had to get her out of the doctor's office and get her to a hospital immediately. When she got to the hospital they did the same thing to her has they are doing for Leah. Then she had pains in her stomach and was throwing up so they did an ultrasound to see if she was pregnant and it turns out that she is pregnant. When she found out that she was pregnant she started freaking out because she had heard that if someone is pregnant and has the Zika virus the baby could have serious birth defects and can also die. They found out that she knew she was pregnant she was trying to surprise people and say she didn’t know she was about to have the baby at that hospital. When she finally had it it turned out the baby didn’t have to serious birth defects but the baby was having a hard time breathing so they were scared that the baby was going to stop breathing and die but they were also expecting it because the mother had the Zika virus.
