Zeus is known as the king of the gods. The king of the gods is the oldest of the gods and he is considered the King of Olympus. He is the god of the sky and his weapon is lightning. There are many stories about Zeus, and he is often referred to as the most important god. Zeus was hidden in a cave on Crete when his mother Rhea hid him from his father Cronus because his father was told that he would be overthrown by his children, so he started eating them. His mother hid him so he wouldn’t be eaten like his siblings. After that, he disguised himself and tricked his father Cronus into drinking poison, making him spit out all of Zeus’s brothers and sisters. Then they all joined in a war with the titans, which lasted 10 years. It was called
After Zeus defeated the Titans, Gaea was angry at him. She felt that the punishments he gave them were too harsh. She joined the titans after that, and they helped make a creature that they thought could destroy Zeus. It was named Typhon. It attacked Mount Olympus and all of the gods ran away because he was so terrifying and powerful. Zeus regained his courage and chased him to Mount Casion. There, they engaged in an epic battle until Typhon won and wrapped Zeus in his coils. Typhon then made his sister guard Zeus while he went away. When Zeus regained his strength, Hermes sent a chariot to take him from his imprisonment. When Hermes got him, he followed Typhon. When they reached Sicily, Zeus threw a mountain on him. That mountain is known as Mount Aetna. The mountain trapped Typhon forever. Zeus got his lightning bolts from the cyclopses. Zeus had many affairs ,and because of that he has many children, so many that he cannot name them all. Some of his children
Zeus gave Pandora a box and he told her that it had gifts inside but she was never allowed to open the box. Then, Hermes took her and she met Epimetheus who was to be her husband. Epimetheus was told to not accept anything from the gods and when he met her he did not want to accept her, but he was too amazed by her beauty and he accepted her. One day Pandora could not keep her curiosity tamed anymore. She decided to open the box even though she was told not to by Zeus. When she opened the box, all the sickness and troubles that the gods had previously hidden from humanity inside that box were released into the world. Pandora was so scared by the evil coming out of the box that she shut the box, but when she closed it she left hope inside. According to legend, it was the will of Zeus to have hope stay inside the box. Zeus wished for people to have pain so that next time they would not disobey the gods.
