For years, thousands of illegal immigrants have come to this country along with their children. In 2012 the Obama administration pushed forward the American immigration policy. Which allowed individuals who entered the country illegally as a minor to receive a two-year work permit. In 2007 there were approximately 800,000 individuals who are enrolled in the dreamer’s program. Now President Trump is trying to get rid of the dream act which protect the children and there and their family from being deported. President Trump should not get rid of the dreamer’s program.
The young adults who are covered under the dreamer’s act are people who also take care of us when we are sick. If we were to deport the physicians and nurses we would lose a major

It could cripple the economy because most of the children and young adults who are protected under this policy are college graduates who have student loans or they are young adults who have taken out loans in general. If they were to get deported, how would the government get their student loans back and how would the banks get their loans back, the debit of those young adults would take away a big chunk of the economy due to not being able to find them once they are deported. They are also a big number of our workforce. If we were to send away half of our workforce, we wouldn’t have enough people to work the restaurants, stores and run the businesses that we love so much. Considering the loans that these young adults have racked up and how much they contribute to the workforce it could initially make Americas economy more broke than it already is. If they are contributing to the economy, it would be in the best interest of our country to let them continue to contribute.
A different view would be that if we continue to let immigrants come over illegally without going threw the proper channels then America is sending a message to immigrants everywhere that there is away around are immigration laws and if they see that there is a way around one law they might think there is away around others. Yet still pay taxes and they form a part of society, many of them can be classmates, colleagues or friends. Often times they do not get the same rights or opportunities that United States citizens do -even though they have lived here for most of their lives. One of the biggest victims of this broken immigration system are the kids of parents who came here without documentation and who brought their kids along hoping to find a better life. These kids live in fear of not being able to do what other kids their age do and that is why DACA has become a lifeline for people in this situation. DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and even though they pay a very high fine to be able to work here legally, it does not grant them citizenship status. The Bush Center states that “ DACA recipients who, despite paying into the system, are entitled to very few state or federal benefits. Higher rates of health insurance mean less uncompensated care, which benefits all of us because uncompensated care is paid for largely through public funds” and them being able to work for less care ultimately helps out the economy. For many Mexican immigrants, crossing the border into the land of freedom and the American dream is no easy task. Some immigrants come over illegally by means of hiding in cars to cross borders, using visitor visas to stay longer, marrying to become citizens, and having babies as ‘anchors’ to grant automatic citizenship. Other immigrants gain green cards and work visas and work their way into becoming US citizens legally and subsequently gaining citizenship through paperwork for their families back home. After escaping harsh living and working conditions in Mexico, immigrants come to America prepared to gain education, opportunity, and work. This American dream unfortunately does not come to pass for most.
Illegal immigration has many diverse effects on the United States economy. Some people argue that the negative outweigh the positive, but there is no doubt that immigrants do carry a critical role.
The lives of millions of immigrants are affected everyday due to limited access to acquiring legal citizenship. Out of that group there are 2.1 million children and young adults under the age of 18 that are eligible for permanent citizenship at this time (The DREAM Act). In 2001 Dick Durbin and Orrin Hatch presented a Development Relief and Education of Alien Minors (DREAM) Act that provides a path to becoming a legal citizen. The DREAM Act has yet to be passed, but there is a temporary Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)(The DREAM Act). The DREAM Act will provide options and opportunities for people to continue their path of life in America. The DREAM Act should be passed as it will benefit our economy, positively affect and strengthen our military, along with increased access to education.

People assume they provide a burden to society, and many policy makers have taken steps in order to oust them. The first being IIRIRA. In reality undocumented people have every right to be here. The economic slump of their native countries is a consequence of US actions and policies, and undocumented workers provide a great economic benefit to the US. The United States of America, being a country founded by immigrants, is known all over the world as the land of great opportunities. People from all walks of life travelled across the globe, taking a chance to find a better life for them and their family. Over the years, the population of immigrants has grown immensely, resulting in the currently controversial issue of illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants are the people who have overstayed the time granted on their US, visa or those who have broken the federal law by crossing the border illegally. The DREAM Act legislation should pass and become a law; in a way this will be beneficial for both parties involved, for the young immigrants and for the U.S. If this is not possible an alternative should be sought out. Currently, there are 11.7 million undocumented immigrants in the United States; 6 million of those immigrants are Mexican-born (Preston). Within that undocumented population are individuals who were brought to the States as children. These individuals have grown up in the American culture and consider themselves American, but struggle with being treated as second class citizens due to their undocumented status. On June fifteenth of 2012, the Obama Administration announced the executive order Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). This order will allow immigrants who were brought illegally to the U.S. as children to apply for work permits and avoid deportation (Hennessey and Bennett). President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals is not only beneficial to it applicants but also to the United States as a whole.
The economy more often than not, is positively affected by immigration. Many of supposed negative impacts immigration has on the economy has been proven to be major falsities in a series of instances and have actually shown to have been major economic benefactors that should be applauded rather than criticized. As stated previously, some of the fallacies people have been led to believe concerning immigration and its negative effects on the United States economy, is erroneous. Immigration has been a problem for so many years. This issue began in the 19th century and yet is still a major problem in the U.S. Illegal immigrants don't have many rights living in the U.S. They have a hard life because they don't have the same opportunities as a u.s citizen has. Many of these people get treated unfairly simply because of the fact that they are illegal. There is cases where they have been treated aggressively by the authority. Everyone needs equality no matter where they are from. Most of these immigrants are latinos that come from central america. People from the united states are allowed to go and have a nice vacation in these places but yet those there have to cross a border and put their life at risk just to have a better life. Why do these people have to risk their lives in look for something better. The united states promises equality and this is what attracts others and its sad that they can’t come in legally without having to risk their lives. In some ways illegal immigrants do contribute to the economy. They generate extra income for our economy but do lower some wages (Hanson). Illegal immigrants generate extra income because their labor increase brings an increase in output which leads to more income for U.S. businesses (Hanson). (par.)Another positive illegals bring is that they allow the economy to use domestic resources more efficiently. Highly skilled immigrants have a positive net tax contribution and increase a business’s productivity. Illegal immigrants also hold jobs that would be undesirable and that most people wouldn’t want to work these jobs. Another thing to consider is that if all the illegal immigrants jobs were taken away “not all jobs would be taken by natives some would be automated or outsourced.” (Ruark)
Illegal immigrants are makers, not takers. Many American citizens see these approximate 11 million illegal immigrants in a negative view and don’t want them living in their communities. However, many of these American citizens don’t know why illegal immigrants come here and what good they actually do to this country. Illegal immigration should be allowed because their quality of life is improved, they help the economy, and they bring job growth.
