A Facebook event that inspired millions Women’s March on Washington was a protest which was held on January 21st, 2017. Millions of people attended this march all over the globe. The main motive of the march was to stand for the women’s rights as human rights and it also covered several issues such as the insults and threats made to the diverse cultures, communities, immigrants and societies during the election period in United States of America. Numerous protest marches and rallies like this are held against various political and social issues all over the world. These protests done by the public are very effective in bringing the change in the society and the nation as these inspire and create awareness among the people. The Women’s March was more of a political protest because the march was scheduled the day after Donald Trump’s inauguration to show the dissent against him and his policies. The march started as a small protest limited to the city of Washington, USA only but it grabbed attention of millions of people and by the time the march took place, the event was spread throughout the world and people of all genders from various parts of the world took to the streets to join the march. Such marches and rallies influence the people and their thinking and as a result more and more people join it. A successful march make the authorities to think about their motives and act towards it as it may become a national or global issue. The literary piece is “Why I Want a Wife” by Judy Brady and the goal of the Feminist Movement was to create new meanings and realities for women in terms of education, empowerment, occupation, sexual identity, art, and societal roles.
