With advances in automation technology springing up periodically in today’s culture, it’s only inevitable that numerous jobs will be taken by robots. This is due to these working bots outperforming their human counterparts. An important question that should be asked by all is, “will robots take my chosen career?” One specific career that poses interest in automation is the career choice of law enforcement. This is because for this particular career there are many aspects that a robot can't do such as dealing with human morals, being reliable, and analyzing data with human logic. After thorough research through public articles found online one can conclude that, although robots have the ability to take over many aspects of police work, they …show more content…

This may be derived from the fact that robots are constantly taking jobs and leaving hardworking men and women unemployed. According to Helen Massy-Beresford, an editor for Horizon magazine, “Scientific advances in robotics research are moving the technology from predictable spaces like production lines into disaster zones … cutting risk to human life and helping boost the chances of rescuing victims”. In other words, Beresford is stating that recent advances in technology have created robots that can replace workers in law enforcement because these new bots are able to boost the efficiency of workers without risking lives. Although this may be true, it’s important to emphasize that these robots can’t do everything by themselves. Beresford goes on to say, “To be most useful in a disaster situation, robots need to work hand in hand with humans … robots could scour the skies … leaving a human rescuer to think strategically”. Essentially what this is saying is that these robots can’t replace workers in the law enforcement field because they can’t replace their brains. This is because the robots don’t have the skill to think strategically like a human worker can. With this opposing view addressed, it is important to detail why Robots can’t replace human police
