The reason as to why dinosaurs became extinct has been a question asked for many years now. It has formed many controversies and theories as expected, some supported by very important researchers and some others not that accepted by society, but today I’m going to talk about the most credible and supported theories. The first theory is the meteor theory, the most believable and more realistic theory by many, the second one talks about volcanic eruptions, and the third one is more of a combination of many other theories, and how event after event completely annihilated majority of the species. Well first of all, before talking about the many possibilities as to why the dinosaurs might have become extinct let’s talk about how they used …show more content…

Dinosaurs were enormous, cold blooded creatures that roamed the earth about 237 million years ago. Not only that, but there was a great variety of them as well. Carnivores, herbivores, omnivores, and not only that but they were also different in their physical appearance and bone structure. For instance, the Pterodactyl was a flying reptile, or the Brachiosaurus that with its long neck was able to reach heights of up to 85+ feet long, and this are only a few examples of the many different species of dinosaurs there were. Well now that we are more into context with the dinosaurs let’s talk about the theories as to how they are thought to might have become extinct. The first one is the meteor theory. It is speculated that a meteor/asteroid was the one responsible for annihilating the dinosaurs, in fact it is the most known and credible theory up to this date. This theory consists of a meteor impacting the earth, and according to many researchers it “struck the earth at 40,000 miles per hour and released 2 million times more energy than the most powerful nuclear bomb ever detonated” (Why did the dinosaurs die out? 6). According to this theory as the meteor impacted the earth it instantly destroyed many species and ecosystems which in the end would kill more species indirectly. It not only affected the area it landed
