To Kill a Mockingbird is a book written by Harper Lee that was published in 1960. It was a highly successful and critically acclaimed novel and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1961. This success also led to it being made into a popular movie in 1962 with the same title. The story is slightly borrowed from the early childhood experiences of the author herself. This book looks at the serious themes of racial inequality and class in the United States through the eyes of children, Scout (six-year old girl), Jem (her elder brother) and Dill (their friend who visits the town of Maycomb every summer). Their father Atticus Finch, is a lawyer who is appointed to defend an African-American man named Tom Robinson who has been accused of raping a white woman,
