The short story “The Interlopers” written by Saki is about two men who at first hate each other, but then find that they can put all their differences behind them and become friends. The changes that take place in this story have a bigger meaning than what the story is telling us, so they question is? Why and how do these changes affect the characters. During the story, the two men are trapped under a tree. They both at first say that when one of them get out they will kill the other. While beneath the tree the men really have nothing to talk about or do. Ulrich eventually gets his arm free enough to grab his canteen with wine in it.
