In this modern world it is important for an individual to explore and understand his or hers ethnic roots and background. Even in this technological world that we live in today people are still judged by their values, beliefs and social background. These are the major aspects of a persons life as the society is been working based on these aspects since its creation. However, an individual’s identity is also shown through their family, religion, culture and economy. Through this paper I will try and show the reader as to why understanding the said things are important when living in such a diversified and judgmental society.

The Persian Empire was later invaded by Arab rulers during the 7th century AD and forced the Persian Zoroastrians to convert or face the death penalty. This led to the migration of a small group of Zoroastrians who sailed the Indian Ocean and luckily found sanctuary on the shores of Gujurat, India and could save what was left of Zoroastrianism. This is the reason why Zoroastrianism has many similarities with Vedic Indians (Moore, 1912). Zoroastrianism is also known as the world’s first environmental religion as many ritual and sanctions are focused towards saving the nature from pollution. During the early 1974 a well known scholarly Zoroastrian from India Homi B. Dhalla said that Zoroastrianism is the first environmental religion as the positive ideas towards the environment have been inscribed in the avesta (Foltz, 2007). Avesta is the ancient Zoroastrian scripture that in scripts all the traditions, values of Zoroastrianism since its creation. During a religion, culture and environment conference in Tehran in 2001 the Iran’s department of the environment invited Jehangir Oshidar a Zoroastrian priest to present a paper on environmental values of Iran’s original pre-Islamic national religion. The paper was focused towards those facets of Zoroastrianism that include devotion to nature idols and rules that require devotion for protection of water, fire, soil and air (Foltz, 2007). However, Zoroastrianism is not amid the world’s major religion in today’s worlds but its environmental values are considered to be way more practical.
