15.Margo’s black notebook is a journal that was mostly hidden throughout the book. In a way, the story written in the notebook inspired Margo’s plan; it included specific steps and details of her plan. The notebook represents another side to Margo that she never shows, her mysteriousness. The notebook also illustrates that there are many sides to a person, but they’re never shown to others. If the notebook was never revealed, the reader wouldn’t know exactly what influenced Margo to leave.

1.Florida represents the setting of the story; the characters spend most of their time in Florida. Unlike many other states, Florida has multiple subdivisions throughout the state. Subdivisions are very important in the story. First, Jefferson’s
The CD symbolizes the many different genres of records and music found in Margo’s room. One of the first things Q notices when entering Margo’s room is her music collection; Q was surprised by the fact that Margo was interested in music and different interests. Q viewed Margo as an object not as a real person that would have emotions and feelings, nevertheless having her own hopes, dreams, and interests.

8. Leaves of Grass is the poetry book that Margo left highlighted quotes (clues) for Q to find. The book leads to a specific song in the book that includes few clues that led Q in discovering other clues left by Margo, however, the book shares many themes with Paper Towns and is very similar to Margo. Few of these themes include finding your true identity, struggling to find the meaning of life, and viewing exploration and an indicator for existence.

9. Captain Ahab and Q and their stories are similar in a few ways. First, just like Ahab was obsessed with finding the white whale, Q was obsessed with finding Margo. Second, both characters cannot be identified as being foolish or heroic. Finally, both characters actions lead them to disappointment by Q not convincing Margo to come back with him and by Ahab not finding the whale, which caused his death.
