Electronic books, or eBooks, are becoming increasingly popular in today’s society. With the growing number of people using electronic readers (eReaders), some people are doing away with printed books completely. However, some people are still not quite comfortable ready for that. New technology makes replacing printed books with ebooks easier and easier as time goes on. On July 4, 1971, Michael Hart was a student of the University of Illinois. He was working in a grocery store when he saw a printed sign of the United States Declaration of Independence. Michael was given free and unlimited access to the research lab at his college. Electronic readers and electronic books have gotten so popular that some schools have even started using them for their students. Rather than carrying around dozens of different books, the eReader can download them all, so portability is much easier. EBook users can also look up a certain text or part of a book using their eReader. Another great advantages to them is that they are good for the environment by saving trees. There are, however, just as many disadvantages. EReaders require charging. EReaders, like many other electronic devices, are easily breakable. Another downfall to eReaders is that you must have access to the internet to download books. They also have a limited amount of space.
