The Romans were good at a lot of things but did they really provide public service, promote rule of law and other things that make up Rome today. I will tell you what I think through my long research I did for this essay and I’m sure you will love what I have to hear about the Romans and if they made a successful republic.
Provide Public Services Grade: Low A
First thing I’m going to talk about is how the Romans did in providing public service. When I did research I found out that they were good at giving the people what they needed and when they needed it. What makes me say this is because the Romans gave the people aqueducts which helped them get water from the rivers and streams in the valleys. Another thing that the Roman republic gave to the people was entertainment like chariot racing, plays, and theatre. The most popular way of giving the people entertainment was the Colosseum. In the Colosseum big gladiator fights with a lot of fatalities and for which was pleasing to the common and wealthy to watch. But when it came to defense the barrier of metal shields were unstoppable they used their shields to make a barrier called the phalanx which was a strong shield wall and when the enemy troops came to them and attack they waited until the enemy was close and they threw their shields and fought. Another good thing about their defense in a war has they had a strict dress code form the government leaders and generals which had 3 layers of armor on the chest, a skirt and of leather, sandals, helmet and shoulder blades to make sure they don’t break anything when swinging their sword.
