On the night of November 5th 2014, many students gathered in the Mancheski Executive Seminar room, in the Lender School of Business at 6:30 p.m. A short film called “Two Million Minutes” was shown which was about the contrasts of the ways three superpowers of the 21st century- China, India, and the United States- prepare high school students for careers in the global economy. There were also three primary speakers that went into a discussion at the end of this short film, their names were Xi Chen whom is apart of the sociology apartment, Mohammad Elahee, apart of International Business, and lastly Mordechai Gordon, whom is apart of the Education department. The documentary “Two Million Minutes” was very interesting and was very informal. Basically the film was meant to bring a broader story of the universal importance of education today, and to address how the United States is losing its status in education over these two other superpower countries. In the documentary it really emphasized that the Chinese and Indian students are trained, prepared and committed to finishing high school form the start to finish line within the necessary boundary lines that are taught to them. The students in these countries do not cut corners or go in a zigzag path; they go in a straight line toward success with no questions asked. On the other hand, the two American students aren’t from start to finish in high school. They’re watching their future, figuring out how to organize it, ask questions, and they’re considering all the possibilities
