I read the book, "The Skin I’m In". This book impacted the way I view life. I used to get bullied about my height and skin tone. Maleeka Madison, is the main character of the book "The Skin I'm In" by author, Sharon G. Flake. Maleeka shows strength and faith. She isn’t as wealthy as the other students at McClenton Middle School. Similar to myself, she is tall, skinny, and dark-skin. During Maleekas' early school year she had no friends. Then she met a girl named Charlese. She begged Charlese to let her hang out with her, but there was a catch! Maleeka told Charlese if she would be her friend she would do all of Charlese's school work, but Charlese said, “No!”. Maleeka wasn’t gonna take no for an answer. She would follow Charlese everywhere. Charlese soon accepted Maleekas' offer and became her friend. Charlese would bring Maleeka clothes to wear, because Maleekas' mom …show more content…

Madison never bought her daughter school clothes because she couldn't afford them. One day Ms. Madison surprised Maleeka and took her shopping. Maleeka was so excited about school the next day! She was gonna wear her brand new clothes and shoes, Maleeka was so excited she even put on her new lip gloss! As Maleeka was walking into school she felt proud about her self, but her happiness soon went away when she saw John-John, he began to joke on her, but she ignored him and continued to walk with confidence! This is what I meant by she never lets them see her down. She is a tough, young, black, lady, and I admire that. The author described her as caring and comfortable with the skin she's in. Maleeka has built a faith of confidence to help her during school. Maleeka was top of her class, she always makes good grades and has never missed class. Maleekas' school received a new teacher, Miss Saunders. Miss Saunders was described as tall, fat, and had a avid mark on her face. She soon was bullied by her students, but she didn't tolerate the disrespect. Miss Saunders was always nice to
