The poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost can have multiple meanings.By having these possibilities it causes the reader to consider them. We can thank Robert Frost for this mind boggling mystery.
One of these theories, as we call them, is that he’s talking about how people act. For example in the second stanza speaks about two paths. One of these paths is worn and the other seems unworn. He could be talking about the fact that there seems to be two paths in life, one for those who want to follow the crowd and one for those who want to lead their own life.

It’s not a once in a lifetime choice. You always have the choice “to hang with the idiots or do something right” as Mr. Raisanen would say.
In the first stanza it causes more confusion for me on this theory. It speaks about looking down the road as far as the eye can see, but the problem with that is that we can’t see into the future. Especially when the poem was written in the early 1900. The only thing I can think of is that he’s talking about trying to predict the future. The second theory is a little like the first but different at the same time. In this theory he could be talking about all life choices. Big and small ones. One of the life choices he made was to find a channel for his feelings after his father died when he was eleven. He could of chosen to become sad and let the sadness take over his life and he would be depressed.
This theory is good but it still has its faults. One of the faults is very similar to the first theory’s fault. The big problem is that you can’t see into the future. We can only predict the future but can’t see what’s going to happen. Perhaps when he decided to find a channel for his emotions he realized what would happen if he became depressed.
Maybe your father didn’t die but you can still use this theory. Perhaps you are considering quitting your job and to go live in Europe. You have to decide whether it’s a good idea or a bad one. You could try to think what possible outcomes are if you went or stayed.
Or if you were a kid maybe there’s a kid who bullies you daily. Your choices would be to either tell an adult what is going on or let it
