Reality shows have become increasingly more popular throughout the years. People tune in every Sunday or Tuesday night to see the fancy vacations and the bundle of mind blowing drama. Some reality shows star a family living there everyday lives, while others are focused on people finding their way in the world. Often times the stars of these so called “reality television” shows become role models for the younger and older generations. However, in real life these reality shows are anything but reality. Reality shows give people unrealistic views on life, and are often times repetitive as well as exploitive. Repeat. This is a basic example pertaining to the constant cycle of reality shows. Saying something over and over again often gets bothersome and the same goes for reality television. For instance, on the show Keeping up with the Kardashians, the themes are constantly being recycled throughout the show. In every episode one of the sisters is arguing with another or breaking up with there boyfriend. In particular, the relationship of Scott and Kourtney is persistently being reconciled and destroyed. Scott continues to party and stay out late even though his long time girlfriend forbids him to. Constantly she forgives him and the cycle repeats. Tuning in every Sunday night to hear the latest news on everybody's favorite reality stars can be interesting but, is it really worth it? Believing in the power of six weeks and a red rose to flourish the perfect relationship is anything but realistic. In addition, watching the same thing over and over again is a waste of time and a waste of television space.
