The overwhelming majority would say only racism exist in America, in fact, most would say it started in America. However, how do we as a society address, educate and create equal environments for all people. As a father of a black child and previously married to a black woman, I thought racism was a dying subject and ideology. However, as modern times progresses, we are seeing an abundance of double standards and reverse racism.
Reverse racism was adapted as a means to fight racism within the United States. According to Grutter VS Bollinger, “Reverse Racism is a condition in which discrimination, sometimes officially sanctioned, against a dominant (or formerly dominant) racial or other group representative of the majority in a particular
That’s when reverse racism played a major role in the country. According to Washington Times, “Problems at the polls surfaced early Tuesday in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, with Republican election monitors being turned away from polling places and members of the New Black Panther Party appearing at voting sites in Philadelphia. In 2012 we had black males specifically targeting the white population. There was a civil case filed according to Washington times” The Justice Department under President George W. Bush filed a civil complaint against three Black Panthers — Minister King Samir Shabazz, Malik Zulu Shabazz and Jerry Jackson — charging them with violating voter rights by using coercion, threats and intimidation. The Obama administration later dismissed most of the case, even though the Black Panthers had not contested the charges”. This article comes from 2012, it clearly shows racism from blacks. Imagine the outrage if the KKK stood outside a democrat voting booth with batons. The only reason these individuals got away with this was because of reverse racism. As United States Senator Jeff Sessions stated, “empathy for one party is always prejudice against however, none of this has fixed any problems for the black community. As Martin Luther King stated, When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God 's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!” “Free at last” stated MLK and he didn’t mean free from slavery, he meant freedom from evil. Taking down flags or important structures does nothing but benefit a certain parties view, thus, its why we see division rather than love.
