Joseph Leonti Honor Society Grade 10 December 28, 2017 Character can often be defined as one’s nature; the inner qualities and values distinctive to each individual. We look at people all around us and see them each as unique. This sense of individuality is what defines someone. Quite often we overlook the values that makes us unique and compare ourselves with others to better conform with society. But, what truly is character? To me, character is huge. Over everything else. A person’s character is what truly defines them. In my fifteen years on earth, I have learned that you should not look at someone for where they come from, how much money they make, or how well they perform in school. What it all boils down to is someone’s character. I believe that I, as well as others, should view someone for who they are, not for what they have. I look at someones grit, someone's willingness to accomplish tasks and achieve goals, how someone can react in a tough scenario, and how genuine of a person they are. I would take being a member seriously and do what is expected of me and more. I will be committed to the organization and understand what it truly means to be a part of NHS. For volunteering, I would enjoy regularly doing it. I see it as a way of helping my community and those around me, all while putting a smile on someone's face. Becoming more involved in school activities and the community in honor society will also be a priority for me, and I will be committed to bringing positive change to both. Along with this, I would continue to work just as hard or even harder in school and outside of school. If I were to be in this program, I’d truly involve and invest myself into it in order to not only better myself but to better others around
The four pillars of the prestigious National Honor Society demonstrate the traits I hope to continually develop: as a scholar, a leader, a volunteer and a person of strong moral fiber. I believe myself to be mature and motivated; I have an unyielding commitment to scholarship and intend to make a difference in the lives of everyone around me. The prospect of becoming a member has prompted me to take a look upon what I wish to accomplish as a part of this organization. By becoming an active participant, my goal is to enrich my school experience by means of volunteering in the community, serving as a role model for my peers, and fostering pride for our school.
I am writing to inform you of my possible contributions to the National Honor Society and my interest in becoming a member. I view myself as a strong minded individual with a strong incentive to learn. Acquiring the ability to learn fast and adapt quickly has enabled me to be a part of a wide range of organizations. My participation and loyalty to the NHS could result in a great strive forward. I could provide more ideas of services to benefit the school and our community. I would also devote a large portion of my free time to the organization and assist in any way possible. Whether that means coming in early in the morning or staying late after school, I would do any means necessary to show my commitment.
(#4) The British naturalist and politician John Lubbock wrote, “Your character will be what you yourself choose to make it.” Do we choose our own character traits, or is our character formed by influences beyond our control? In other words, Character is the qualities that vary in individuals.Childrens character is the most concerned these days. Adults believe that character in a child is usually developed depending of how the child was raised during childhood however, rising 9th graders, believe that they can self mold themselves a character through finding friends and making mistakes in high school.What many people fail to realize is that it all varies on the child.
A character is a person in a story that plays a particular role. Stories require characters so that it forms conflicts, tensions and resolutions. Characters also carry certain traits to make the story interesting and unique. Each character might have different attributes. Others could have similar and different qualities. Those who read many novels might notice that characters from various books are similar to each other to an extent, but are not completely the same. The old English poem, Beowulf, and Shakespeare's Macbeth contain characters with similar characteristics. Beowulf and Macbeth share similar traits, but do not have the same objective. Comparing and contrasting determine the similarities and differences of things. Comparing and contrasting is an excellent tool to determine what is right and wrong. When choosing the best car to drive, comparing and contrasting helps in the choice of the best vehicle. Macbeth and Beowulf demonstrate that a warrior's motivations matter for both soldiers and the people.
Being proud of something can have many different meanings to people, but to me, it means to be honored and to be glad that something happened. I am proud about many things in my life but one thing I am extremely proud of is my induction into the NJHS. NJHS stands for National Junior Honor Society.
Character is often the setting stone on what a person is judged upon. For someone to have character, they must noticeably stand out, and do extraordinary tasks that a normal student would not usually do. From school activities to sports clubs, I myself carry unique characteristics that set me apart from other students.
Due to my experiences and abilities as a student, I believe I can be considered a strong candidate for the National Honor Society as I will be able to contribute to society most effectively and reach my full potential in helping others. If I were to join the NHS, I would be given the opportunity to improve my perfomance in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character, and also learn from others who are striving to do the same.
The National Honors Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service. These are all characteristics a member of the National Honor Society should exhibit. I believe that I possess all of these characteristics and should be given the chance of becoming a NHS member. This has also been a goal of mine since freshman year and would mean a lot to me to be apart of such a prestigious organization.
Being a member of NHS would be an absolute honor, as it is something I’ve always looked forward to. I was absolutely ecstatic to find an organization believing in the bettering of society through means of academia, leadership, and character, as these are the things I find most important in my life. National Honors Society is an extremely prestigious and well-known group that gave me the opportunity to assist the community while working harmoniously with my peers. To get into NHS, there are four pillars one must fulfill, including, scholar, service, leadership, and character. One may not realize it, but these qualities apply all throughout life. In order to be successful, one must achieve some form of each pillar. Being dedicated and committed to learning and improving but also using the knowledge one previously has is to be a scholar. Leadership, Character, Service, Citizenship. When I think of the NHS, leadership, character, community, and role modeling are all things that come to mind. Being a part of the National Honor Society will help me do just that. I have worked hard for outstanding grades, citizenship, and becoming a leader and role model for other classmates.
Reaching my goal in becoming a member of the National Honor Society would give me a great sense of pride both academically and personally. As a person I have ambition, academic excellence, and great decision making skills to offer to the NHS. For example, ever since I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society I have been striving to do my academic best for a chance to be in the NHS. I show this with my 4.0 G.P.A that I have held for six straight quarters. This shows my determination to be a part of an organization that will better this community for future generations to come. In addition, I would be very enthusiastic about gaining new experience in leadership, community activities, and co-curricular activities. When I was a part of National Junior Honor Society I accepted as many opportunities as I could; I participated in activities such as: spray painting recycling trash cans, painting recycling boxes, sorting paper after school, and ringing the bell at Christmas time for the Salvation Army while singing Christmas carols. Furthermore, I should be a National Honor Society member because I make the right choices in everyday life. Many students all over the country make the choice to use drugs, alcohol, or tobacco, but I can honestly say that I do not use any of these substances. Not only are these a danger to personal health but they are a danger to the health of the people around them, and every person making the choice to stay away from these substances keeps the society a little safer and a little healthier. Overall, my academic excellence, ambition, and ability to make impeccable decisions show that I would be an exceptional member of the NHS.
To enjoy life and to create and experience new opportunities I believe you have to be an involved and concerned person. I would love the opportunity to join National Honor Society and prove in person my abilities. I am dedicated to being successful, and I believe being apart of NHS would further my accomplishment. The four pillars are the backbones for the National Honor Society. Scholarship, leadership, service, and character all come together to form the standard of a National Honor Society member. Each pillar has its own importance, and the pillar of character is perhaps the most vital when determining the membership of the National Honor Society. Character in my words is when a person is a citizen, along with being caring, respectful, and responsible. I display character in a variety of fashions, which touch base up the four qualities of a character.
