Joseph Leonti Honor Society Grade 10 December 28, 2017 Character can often be defined as one’s nature; the inner qualities and values distinctive to each individual. We look at people all around us and see them each as unique. This sense of individuality is what defines someone. Quite often we overlook the values that makes us unique and compare ourselves with others to better conform with society. But, what truly is character? To me, character is huge. Over everything else. A person’s character is what truly defines them. In my fifteen years on earth, I have learned that you should not look at someone for where they come from, how much money they make, or how well they perform in school. What it all boils down to is someone’s character. I believe that I, as well as others, should view someone for who they are, not for what they have. I look at someones grit, someone's willingness to accomplish tasks and achieve goals, how someone can react in a tough scenario, and how genuine of a person they are. I would take being a member seriously and do what is expected of me and more. I will be committed to the organization and understand what it truly means to be a part of NHS. For volunteering, I would enjoy regularly doing it. I see it as a way of helping my community and those around me, all while putting a smile on someone's face. Becoming more involved in school activities and the community in honor society will also be a priority for me, and I will be committed to bringing positive change to both. Along with this, I would continue to work just as hard or even harder in school and outside of school. If I were to be in this program, I’d truly involve and invest myself into it in order to not only better myself but to better others around
