Helen Keller was born June 27th, 1880 in Tuscumbia, a village in Alabama. Even though she was a deaf and blind woman, she still went to school. Helen Keller had to overcome being deaf and blind, and she did so with a great attitude. It was more difficult for her to learn than it was for other students. She had to learn sign language, and since she was blind, she could not see or hear what others were trying to say to her. They could still understand what she was saying to them, but it was very difficult for both Helen and the others she was trying to communicate with. Helen's parents, Kate Keller and Arthur Keller, were also interested in learning sign language so that they could communicate with their daughter. Helen Keller had multiple siblings, but not all of them were her biological siblings. She had 2 half-brothers, William and James Simpson, and she had one biological sister whose name was Mildred Keller. Helen Keller was never married, nor did she have any children. Helen Keller continued going to Horace Mann School for deaf children in Boston, Massachusetts. Her teacher's name was Anne Sullivan. Helen admired Anne Sullivan, and she was thankful for her patience and the opportunities she was given while working with Anne. Helen Keller was not born blind; she had an illness called Scarlet Fever that caused her to be blind and deaf for the rest of her life. Scarlett Fever marked the turning point in Helen's life for the worst. It is one thing for this fever to leave people blind or deaf, but she was cursed with both of these unfortunate disabilities.

Every object or anything hands-on that Helen Keller touched and named it seemed to bring her closer to the world and its features. The one thing that I like about Helen Keller was that she never gave up no matter what people said about her. She did not let anyone's opinion affect her life or get in the way of her learning.

In conclusion, she was an amazing person; she went to college and got a high school diploma even though she was deaf and blind. She accomplished more than some normal, regular, everyday people who do not suffer from disabilities. I like that she had a lot of perseverance in her beliefs and her dreams. I would like to know how she learned to read and write if she was unable to see and hear, but all in all she still did it.
