The healthcare industry is the fastest growing industry in the U.S. economy. Guaranteed success in this industry stems from the many positions developed by U.S. government agencies. Healthcare power is shared among federal and state governments to allow proper distribution of regulation throughout the United States. The need for healthcare will only become greater so it is important for everyone to be educated on who, and what, keep America’s health industry well run. One year after the 2001 terrorist attack on the United States, the Department of Homeland Security was created with a clear goal of keeping America safe. Over 10.4 percent of the U.S. population went without health insurance over the entirety of 2014 (Jester, 2015) Working in the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) would allow me to assist people gain access to healthcare services throughout every state in the U.S.. HRSA consists of six divisions: primary health care, health professions, healthcare systems, maternal and child, the HIV/AIDS bureau, and the Bureau of Clinician Recruitment and Service. Some tasks that these divisions are responsible for are maintaining databases that protect against healthcare malpractice and healthcare waste, fraud, and abuse, and most interestingly; overseeing organ, bone marrow, and cord blood donations. There are over 100,000 people waiting for transplants not only to live but also, to carry on a healthier life. Knowing this, it would bring me great satisfaction to be apart of the healthcare systems bureau and assure donors have access to the services they need to help save a life as well as assure that recipients are set up to accept and receive these life changing services. HRSA is also affiliated with a variety of offices such as the Office of Women’s Health. This office interests me because as a woman it is important to me to support programs that provide health care to women and girls that are geographically isolated, economically or medically defenseless. Millions of Americans get affordable healthcare with the help of HRSA, allowing them to improve their quality of life. I would be more than honored to be apart of the administration that accomplishes tasks like
