Spirituality In Worldview

Everyone has opinions on what is considered right and wrong along with different values. This can fluctuate depending on culture and how someone was raised. This outlook on life is called a worldview. In this paper I will discuss the definition of spirituality within the worldviews of pluralism, scientism, and postmodernism in addition to discussing my persona worldview through the basic worldview questions.
Spirituality in Worldviews
The term spirituality can be interpreted in many ways. It can mean having a relationship with a higher power or being a spiritual person meaning having faith but not necessarily in a higher power. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, spirituality means “the quality or state of being concerned with religion or religious matters” (Spirituality, n.d.). Some may answer that a human being is a living breathing thing made up of cells and organisms that work together to create natural bodily functions. From the Christian view point, a human being is a person that was create by God, in the image of God, with a purpose to serve Him. Each person will find their purpose in some point in their life that will fulfil God’s work. I hold the Christian view as true.
What Happens to a Person at Death? There are many beliefs on what happens to a person at death. Once again, these beliefs come from cultural and religious upbringing. To someone who does not believe in a higher being, when a person dies the body decomposes in the ground with no regards to an afterlife. Christians believe that when a person dies, they go to Heaven or Hell. Where we go is based on our actions on earth and if we acknowledged God as our Savior, never denying Him. Another way to get to Heaven is by accepting God as your Savior in your heart on judgment day.
