Different Reactions of Individuals Who’ve Been Wronged When people are done wrong or have had wrongdoings done to them, they usually have some type of initial reaction. These reactions depend entirely on the person and their experiences. In the stories “The Cask of Amontillado” and “Thank You, Ma’am,” both of the main characters had been a victim of wrongdoings but how their reactions are totally different. In the story “The Cask of Amontillado,” a man named Montresor had been hurt and wronged by a man named Fortunato. Because of these wrongs, Montresor suffered but he declared he would get his revenge and make Fortunato pay. To get his revenge, he tricked Fortunato, who was a drunk, into drinking more wines, in hopes he would get to drink a cask of Amontillado. Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones was a woman who was a victim of attempted robbery. While she was walking, a young man by the name of Roger attempted to snatch her pocketbook but fell when the strap broke. Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones proceeded to grab the boy by his shirt and ask him what was wrong with him and why was he so dirty. When he responded that he had no one to go home to or look after him, she lead him to her house where she fed him and even allowed him to wash-up. She even shared her life story with him and gave him advice about life, which made Roger feel as if someone cared about him. Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones even went as far to give him the money to purchase the item that he wanted once she saw that he understood and respected what she told him. He had tried to rob her, and she wound up helping him as well as giving him the money that he needed and was trying to rob her for, which shows that she knew he needed guidance and did what she could to help despite his
