What does yin and yang mean? Why many people use this symbol? These and many other questions came to my mind when I think about yin and yang. First, we have to know that the symbol of yin yang is perhaps the most known concept used within Taoism. Taoism, is an old philosophical and religious tradition from China that emphasizes living in harmony with the Tao. But what does Tao mean? Tao is “The way” or “the way of nature”. Tao is not a God, is seen more as a “First cause” of the universe.
Once we have cleared all the meanings and we know from where the yin yang comes from, I can accentuate more in yin and yang. People use this symbol in everyday life. The yin is the “dark” force in nature while the yang is the “light” force in nature. They love to do exercise while I don’t like it. This means that they are the yang and I am the yin. Moreover, I like cold weather while my friend prefers hot weather. She is the yang and I am the yin. Likewise, Saturday was a rainy day while Saturday was sunny. Saturday is the yin and Sunday Yang. For the last example, the trees these days are plenty of flowers compared with the trees on December. Right now the trees are yang and before they were yin. With these examples, we have a clear idea how you can relate yin and yang in life. If we know how, we can realize which type of person we are. For example, if a person’s personality or attitude is always positive, expressive or happy, it means that this person is yin. While if another person is calmer it means that is yang.
