When one is in love, one’s strengths and weaknesses are shown through. In the tragedy Romeo and Juliet written by Shakespeare in the late 16th century, he writes about two lovers, Romeo and Juliet, who marries and hides their love because of the hatred between their two families. Throughout the play, readers notice many negative and positive traits in Romeo. Romeo’s weakness is the inability to think before he acts, while his strength is the ability to love others and stay sincere to those he loves. In this story, however, both strengths and weaknesses lead to Romeo’s fall.

This is one example showing he does not think of his actions, resulting in a fall, which is a lesson he never learns. This secret marriage is a reason that leads to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. In the beginning of the play, when Benvolio and Mercutio say that the weather is hot making it easier for others to get in disputes, Shakespeare is foreshadowing an unfortunate event. Eventually, Tybalt and Mercutio get into a fight, Romeo tries to intervene, causing Tybalt to kill Romeo’s best friend. Romeo clearly gets sad, then mad and states, “This day’s black fate on moe days doth depend; this but begins the woe others must end.” (Shakespeare III i 113). This then leads to the death of Tybalt.
