Stan Witty, my grandfather, was an extremely determined man, but he was always changing what he was doing. Just as he was getting far in one thing, he would get bored and want to try something new. Stan would do anything from selling candy to logging. Stan was always a very creative man, and he was very handy as well. He would always find ways of fixing something himself instead of paying someone to do it for him. He had a very good work ethic and did whatever pleased him. Stan was born on November 23, 1937 in eastern Oregon. Stan’s childhood was not perfect, or anything close to that. His father died when he was only five. He loved his mom, but it was sometimes tough because she married many different times. Stan grew up on a farm where you were always expected to help and do your part. He tried real estate, selling candy, logging, managing businesses, and much more. Stan was an entrepreneur. Stan owned a large piece of land and just as he would have started to make a large increase of profit from it, he sold it. This really shows his attitude of doing what pleases you and nothing else. Stan would do whatever it took for the jobs he did. He had an immensely strong work ethic. Stan would do dangerous work, and work very long hours doing this dangerous work. John F. Kennedy was assassinated during his lifetime. After the assassination nobody did anything and everything was closed. Everyone was in shock and confused, they just sat there glued to their tv. This especially hurt Stan because he was so patriotic. For Stan, fourth of July was one of the biggest holidays. Every year he would go to huge parties on the beach, and large picnics with his whole family. Lots of different families would all go to the same place for a parties and picnics. For all the other holidays like birthdays, Easter, Christmas, and Thanksgiving he would meet with his family to
