Space Debris

Why space debris?
Because that the space is getting messy. Space trash is a big problem. The amount of debris orbiting keep growing ever single year. disrupting satellites and occasionally putting astronauts in harm’s way. if the problem gets severe enough, it should eventually make low-earth orbit unusable. Since 1970s, some scientists have been worrying about the space debris.

How fast the space debris orbiting the Earth?
In the low Earth orbit is below the 2,000,000 m space junk circle the Earth around at 7 to 8 km/s. But this is only the low sped, some of them will high to 13-14km/s. So the average impact speed between two objects is 10km/s. Also, some of space debris travel the upper space above the earth orbit, the …show more content…

The Iridium 33 tumbled loss control and Kosmos 2251 disintegrated. This accident created more than 2,000 pieces of space debris which the size greater than 10 cm. 2.In January 2007, China use land-base to destroy a 2,200 pound satellite that was orbiting 528 miles above the Earth. This causes more than 100,000 pieces of debris left in the space, and NASA said that these pieces are more than 4 inches across, about 2600 pieces. How dangerous the space debris? There has a cloud of space debris around earth. Most of them will come back to earth, like an object called WTF1190F which is a piece of hardware similarly dating back the Apollo mission days. Which returns the earth on November 13,2015 and also tell the scientists a lot of things about what happens in our atmosphere. There are nearly 20,000 pieces of debris there. Most of them could be from small objects like hats, gloves and cameras, but what the big objects? Which will be piece of rockets and satellites. These are really danger for our earth. The piece of debris will be caught by the atmosphere.

How the space debris separated?
