In The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien, there are various songs composed by various creatures that each put off a different vibe. These different songs each have meanings that helped convey a mental message to the reader. As each song comes up in the story, it helps in a sense of transitioning into a new land. First off, the first song seen in the book is sang by the dwarves. The song was more serious in tone and had a simple structure with one point stating the objective of their journey. In the book the song has no interesting punctuation and the dwarves kept repeating the fact that they wanted their gold.
