Slavery has played a major role in the history of the United States. It has existed thoughout most of the human history and is still practiced in some parts of the world. Throughout history various legal, social, economic, and philosophical arguments typically involving prejudices of race, color, nationality, or religion were made to justify the slavery in the United States. The role of slavery in society attributed to the desperation and anger the slaves felt and lead them to strike against their owners in many occasions. Despite the threats and the unfair treatment, many people of color retaliated and firmly stood up for their rights as equal human beings. The planters in the south thought that it was more economical to own slaves rather than paying wages. Slavery is one of the thing that everyone agrees is unethical because during slavery time slaves on plantations were often treated cruelly. They were forced to work for long hours and were kept in primitive cabins with terrible living conditions without food or water. However slavery is not only to describe but also to feel that how the childrens and other families were broken apart from each other and sold it differently through slave trade. In addition to that George Fitzhugh argument also stated that slavery supported them with christianity, safety, and assurance of the future. He also believed that slaves are the happiest people in the world but in slavery time slaves were violated human rights that stopped them from being free in dignity and in equality which clearly made his idea or views about slavery looked like
