The major character traits of Macbeth were his ambition (desire for power) and his utter ruthlessness in his pursuit of that power. Although Macbeth did not commit any mass murders I would compare him to one of the really brutal dictators of the 20th century Adolf Hitler. Who was responsible for the deaths of millions including six million Jewish people in the Nazi genocide. Both of the men had someone who stood behind them throughout their entire reign, and prior to it. For Hitler it was Ms. Eva Braun and for Macbeth, his Lady Both Hitler and Macbeth were willing to kill as many people as necessary to achieve the goal of Totalitarian. Macbeth was even willing to kill one of his closest friends in order to obtain this title. Hitler was a military and political leader of Germany from 1933 to 1945,he was the one launched World War Two. While Macbeth was a Scottish Military general and Thane of Glamis. Seen as a brave and advantageous man who was responsible for the death of Duncan, the King of Scotland. Hitler had a deep desire for power. It was when Germany was in distress economically and politically, Hitler saw his window to rise to power. Macbeth had always desired power, but it wasn’t until he was tricked by witches into believing that he would one day become King and the Thane of Glamis. Both had eventually lost all hope in their original goals, and had become horribly paranoid. Hitler and Macbeth both had a desire for power and used murderous ways to achieve power. Also both blamed other for their actions. For Macbeth, he had blamed the witches. For Hitler, he had blamed the Jews Macbeth before the murders, was a well respected high level solider; similarly Hitler was viewed as a strong political figure that only wanted the best for Germany.
