Han China and the Roman Empire had many similarities and differences between the two of them in many different aspects and areas. One that is very predominant in differences and similarities is the society that they lived in. Today we live in a very complicated society, but just because these groups were established long ago doesn 't mean they had a simple society or a simple way of life. So I wanted to talk about how their society stacks up against modern times and how we have evolved from that and what parts of each society was huge in their civilization. Bur registration meant freedom and throughout the republican era registration in the census was the only way a man could ensure his identity and his status. Now in our society today we have a census that is given out and advised by the government to be filled out so that there is a count of how many people live is in a certain city, town, state, country, and even our world. However if someone fails to fill this out and send it in, it is not a harsh consequence, in fact nothing happens to you at all. So my question is why was this such a big deal in these early days? Well, to the Romans the census made them more than a small crowd of people, but more a "populus" of people. Capable of collective action and big decisions. It was said by them to be one of their foundation stones of their civilization. We have obviously evolved from the way they went about the census, but we did take ideas from it that are still being used today. Now there are things from Han China that might still be slightly relevant in our society, but I didn 't seem to find anything huge and stand out. However Something from the Han China era that was also said to be a huge part of their civilization, much like the Roman Empire was with the census, the ideas of Confucianism was huge in Han China. Almost there whole culture and society was based on this topic. If anyone aspired to be in public office they were required to receive a Confucian-based education. Confucianism was a huge part of Han China and was obviously something they felt very strongly about being a part of their society. While Confucianism still exist and probably plays a big part in a lot of people 's lives across the world. It is not a huge part of most people 's everyday life and in our modern
