There are many religions that believe God created the heavens, Earth, and all that is in it; humans are apart of that creation. Genesis 2:7 says, “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” Having said that, when the breath of life is taken away from a body, it dies. Everyone has had experience losing a loved one; it might be a parent, sibling, or a friend. Many do not know what really happens to a deceased person, or why people die. One of the beliefs that separate Seventh-day Adventists from the rest of the Christian religions is the belief that the dead in Christ will rise first, and we who are still alive get to meet them again. Although there are different opinions and sides to this topic, the Bible gives us a clear answer on why people die in the first place. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Psalms 104: 29 says, “You hide Your face, they are troubled; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.” Some religions believe when a person dies, he or she is lingering around in the air, and is watching their loved ones who are alive. Ecclesiastes 9:5 states, “For the living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten.” This verse proves that this belief is not found in the Bible. When Jesus comes for the second time, our loved ones who have died in the Lord will rise first from their sleep, and we will be able to embrace them with open arms and hearts overflowing with gladness
