Voting is right to every citizen through which we can choose are representative who will best serve our country . Every citizen should participate in the leader choosing process because it is really important for the country do get the leader which can best serve the nation and because every vote is countable.(Maring,2006)Every citizen should have this right because he should know that who he is choosing will make the decisions at local level at the national level. Maring (2006) further supports his statement that if we make voting compulsory it would be better for the country as poor people sometimes often don’t go for voting so this makes them vote which is only better for them only. Calef (2006) argues that making voting mandatory doesn’t make any sense as he quotes that if voting is a right then it can’t be a duty and if it’s a duty it can’t be a right because the right is that for which you decide that you want to use it or not. Lardy (2004) adds that few decades back their were rules against right not to vote based on caste, gender and color in countries like in America where black people were not given right to vote and in some countries where women and backward castes can’t vote and now some of these countries are making voting compulsory which is great way to improve that past mistakes but making voting compulsory isn’t a great idea. I was in the favor of mandatory voting system because of the statement which Maring (2006) gave about benefit and why you need to vote but after considering the argument of Calef (2006) and Lardy (2004) I do agree with them that the voting should remain voluntary choice rather than making it mandatory.
